Governance
The role of Clerk is crucial for the Governing / Trust Board. In addition to ensuring that
the Board is properly constituted and fulfilling its statutory requirements, a professional
clerk will advise on a range of educational matters and ensure that the matters for
discussion at board meetings are strategic and not operational.
Having extensive, professional experience of clerking for a variety of educational settings
(Maintained, Voluntary Aided, Voluntary Controlled, Academies, Free Schools, Multi-
Academy Trusts, Selective etc), Goodman Training & Consultancy has the experience and
expertise required to ensure each board is fully equipped to undertake their duties with
confidence, knowing that their actions and discussions are well focussed and properly
documented.
Governance is a key area for Ofsted, having a clerk that understands the need for agendas
and minutes to fully reflect school development and priorities is essential. Goodman
Training & Consultancy will provide a direct contact to your clerk by telephone and e-mail,
so advice and guidance can be provided as required.
Admissions & Appeals
Admissions Appeals Code February 2012 states "Admission authorities must
arrange and fund up-to-date training for appeal panel members on any aspect
felt to be relevant to the functioning of the panel."
Are your independent admission appeal panel members up to date with their
training?
We offer a complete, professional and independent admission appeals
management service. We have expertise and legal knowledge of admissions
and admission appeals and have successfully run admission appeals hearings
for many years.
Let our Clerks take the stress out of the appeals process. We can provide
fully trained, independent panel members, an independent, professional clerk
and even a presenting officer, if required. We can even help to produce a
robust statement of case, which forms the school's basis for the appeals
hearing.
Our vast experience in the admission field will ensure a smooth and fully
compliant appeals process.
Our training complies with the requirements of the Admission Appeal Code
and will provide accredited CPD points for participants.

Empowering Individuals and Transforming Lives through Positive Behaviour Support
At Goodman Training & Consultancy, we are dedicated to promoting positive behaviour
support to empower individuals and create thriving environments. With our expertise in
behaviour management, we provide comprehensive training and consultancy services that
foster positive change, enhance well-being, and maximise potential.
“We do not use a specific acronym or name for the physical interventions aspects of the
training, but it is equivalent to Positive Handling (a term often used in schools and
education services), MAPA (managing aggression and potential aggression) and MOVA
(management of violence and aggression). However, we do not use pain compliance-based
skills, nor any restraint that compromises the airway, breathing or circulation. Our training
is safe, ethical and always emphasises the importance of prevention and de-escalation.”
In collaboration with Sherwood Training our team of experienced consultants and trainers
are passionate about improving the lives of individuals, families, and organisations by
promoting positive behaviours that reduce challenging behaviours and the use of
restrictive restraints. We specialise in working with individuals with diverse needs,
including neurodiverse individuals, those with developmental disabilities, mental health
challenges, and other unique circumstances.
At Goodman Training & Consultancy, we embrace a person-centred and evidence-based
approach to Positive Behaviour Support. We believe that every individual has the potential
to thrive in an environment that fosters respect, understanding, and growth. Our programs
and services are designed to empower individuals, support their autonomy, and build
positive relationships.
We understand that each individual and organisation has unique needs and challenges.
That's why we take the time to assess your specific requirements and design tailored
solutions. Our collaborative approach ensures that our services are aligned with your goals,
values, and desired outcomes.
